About Mark Hearld

Mark Hearld’s work is all about the wonderful, messy energy of the great outdoors. He has a real knack for capturing the "personality" of the animals we see in the British countryside—whether it’s the sudden flash of a goldfinch or the playful zig-zag of a hare. Based in York, Mark spends time in the landscape, absorbing the sights and sounds of nature and bringing them back to his studio.

His style feels like a celebration of the everyday. He loves the quirky charm of old-fashioned folk art and uses a mix of collage and printmaking to create layers of color and texture. For Mark, making art is about sharing the simple joy he finds in a hedgerow or a garden, turning those little moments of nature into something vibrant and full of life that anyone can enjoy.
