About Nest Pretty Things

Tamar Schechner spent twenty years as a fashion editor in Tel Aviv, styling shoots and choosing color for a living. In 2005 she and her family moved to Vermont. The first year was quiet. She taught herself jewelry from tutorials at the kitchen table, opened a shop in 2006, and the color sense from her old job became the whole brand.

She works now in a warehouse studio in downtown Burlington, a block from the lake. Recycled glass and beads from small makers are sorted by color across the table, and she builds each piece by hand, often after the order comes in. She still styles and photographs the jewelry herself. Her husband joined once the work outgrew one person. A share of the studio goes to causes for women and children.
